Democratic Club holding its Platter Party today


DON'T FEEL like cooking this afternoon? Stop by the Roland Terrace Democratic Club, 619 Matthews Ave., between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. for the Platter Party. Tickets are $6 and cover platter, beer, soda and setups.

Church flea market

The United Methodist Women of Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church will sponsor a flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at J. S. Lee's Body Shop, 6033 Belle Grove Road (near the Rose Restaurant). Proceeds will benefit the UMW.

Painting for seniors

A 10-week painting class will be held at 12: 30 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Oct. 2, at the Brooklyn Park Nutrition Site in the old Brooklyn Park High School on Hammonds Lane.

Registration will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at the center.

Children's art program

The county Department of Recreation and Parks is sponsoring an eight-week arts-and-crafts program for elementary children.

Supplies will be provided to help the children create decorative household items.

Classes for students in grades four through six will be held from 3: 20 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Oct. 7, and from 3: 20 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Oct. 9, for students in kindergarten through third grade.

Harbor Hospital Center

The Lifetime of Exercise and Nutrition program is a weight-management program that combines healthy eating with exercise and changed behavior.

Participants receive personalized instruction and a free, two-month membership to the LifeCourse Center.

The program costs $65, and will be held at 5: 30 p.m. Mondays at the center.
