A cookout sponsored by Baltimore Gas and Electric will be part of the grand opening American Homes Inc. is holding at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Villas of Ivy Woods in Ellicott City.
The homes in the community have gas heat and are being built under the BGE EnergyWi$e program, which seeks to lower energy costs by using high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, better insulation and windows, and other features.
Ivy Woods will include 22 semi-detached homes and three single-family homes. Standard features include 9-foot ceilings on the first floor, wiring for cable and telephones, smoke detectors with battery backup.
The Beechwood and Ashwood are 1,704-square-foot houses with identical lower levels and second floors. They differ, however, in the layout of the first floor. Each starts at $128,900.
A kitchen with pantry and powder room occupy the front of the Beechwood.
In the middle there is an 8-by-13-foot dining room while across the rear is an 18-by-13-foot living room.
In the Ashwood, a 10-by-13-foot living room and powder room share the front. At the center of the home is a 9-by-13-foot living room. Across the back is a kitchen and 9-by-10-foot breakfast nook.
Upstairs, both houses have a master suite with a walk-in closet, 13-by-13-foot bedroom and full bath. There are two other bedrooms and a full hall bath.
Buyers can elect to have two master suits, each with its own bath.
The lower level houses the entry foyer, guest closet, single-car garage, powder room and 13-by-17-foot recreation room. A lower-level bedroom is optional.
The Dogwood and Cedarwood are nongarage homes with walkout basements and a base price of $129,900.
