Steve Gillilan will talk about his experiences as an actor, writer, director and producer at Thursday's open membership meeting of Women in Film & Video of Maryland.
Gillilan, a Baltimore native and a graduate of Boston University's theater department, is the writer and director of the coming films "The Jealous God" and "Patty Stone." He appeared on the soap opera "One Life to Live" in 1988 as Jason, the preppy drug dealer.
Gillilan starred in films and plays and has written many screenplays, including "The Last American Cab Driver" and "Mad for Thy Love," which were both inspired by life experiences. His play "The Bee" was produced at the Art Continent in Baltimore before being shown off-Broadway in New York.
"Patty Stone," a romantic-comedy flashback to the '50s, is scheduled to be shot in Baltimore next summer. The screenplay was inspired by "The Patty Duke Show" and will feature a cameo appearance by Patty Duke.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Admiral Fell Inn, 888 S. Broadway in Fells Point. Networking starts at 6 p.m. and light refreshments will be served. The cost is $10 for nonmembers and free for members. Women in Film & Video of Maryland is a nonprofit educational organization. Call 410-685-FILM.

Each of the 10 screenings is accompanied by a guest speaker. The program begins each Sunday at 10 a.m. with brunch, followed by the film at 10: 30 a.m. Due to contractual arrangements with the distributors, the titles of most films cannot be revealed until a few days before the screening.

All members ++ receive a benefit package, worth a minimum of $100, that includes free passes to the Charles, invitations to preview screenings at other theaters and discounts at restaurants, cafes, art galleries, video stores and theaters.
