Two arrested after chase with police Owner reported car was stolen last week

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A chase that took Howard County police through Columbia's Kings Contrivance village earlier this week led to the arrest of a Columbia man and a juvenile.

Police said a car that had been reported stolen Thursday was spotted in the village at 2 a.m. Monday.

The ensuing chase ended on Polished Stone Court, where the car's occupants abandoned the vehicle and were seen running toward Vollmerhausen Road, a police report said.

Police later spotted two men riding bicycles on Broken Land Parkway near Route 32. The two were arrested after they were found to be carrying property from the stolen vehicle, police said.

Police said Ledell Maxwell Padmore, 20, of the 7300 block of Mossy Brink Court in the village of Owen Brown and a 16-year-old boy were charged with first- and second-degree assault, vehicle theft, felony theft and related motor vehicle violations.

The assault charges stem from the allegation that whoever took the car tried to run over its owner during the theft Thursday.

The owner, who lives in the 7300 block of Eden Brook Drive, escaped unharmed and reported the car stolen that day.
