Cubs: When Ryne Sandberg scored in the fourth inning, it was his 1,306th run -- tying Billy Williams for the most by a Cubs player in the 20th century. They are tied for third place on the franchise list. Shawon Dunston missed his second straight game for the Cubs with a jammed right shoulder. He was hurt Tuesday at Los Angeles.

Giants: Barry Bonds went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Cubs, extending his slump to 2-for-35 in his past 10 games and dropping his average to .285. Roberto Hernandez got his first major-league hit with a single in the eighth. It came on the first pitch of his first career at-bat.

Indians: Matt Williams has four homers in 217 at-bats at home and 21 homers in 230 at-bats on the road.

Mets: New York went 9-2 vs. St. Louis this season.

Padres: Tony Gwynn went 2-for-5 to raise his average to .383.

Yankees: In a rehab start for Columbus against Richmond, Darryl Strawberry went 3-for-3 with two homers, a double, two walks and seven RBIs.
