Hits and misses

THE BALTIMORE SUN

On the field: The latest reconfigured Orioles lineup -- this one with Brady Anderson back in the leadoff spot -- banged out 16 hits and hammered two Minnesota pitchers on the way to a 9-0 victory. Geronimo Berroa led the way with three hits, including a three-run homer.

In the dugout: Manager Davey Johnson gave second baseman Roberto Alomar the day off against left-hander Rich Robertson. Alomar still is bothered by a shoulder strain that prohibits him from batting right-handed, and Johnson was concerned he might have trouble getting out of the way of Robertson's big-breaking curve.

In the clubhouse: Johnson had to be pleased with the way the Orioles pulled out of a lengthy slump to win five of six games on the road trip to Texas and Minnesota: "It was a great trip," he said. "I know there's a good feeling in the clubhouse."
