Dogs' Press tops Baysox on 2-hitter, 8-0 Minor leagues


Gregg Press combined with two relievers on a two-hit shutout as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the host Bowie Baysox, 8-0, last night in a Double-A Eastern League game.

Press pitched seven innings, losing his no-hit bid with no outs in the seventh on Chris Kirgan's line-drive single. The Baysox's other hit was an infield single by Bryan Bogle in the ninth off reliever Gabe Gonzalez.

Josh Booty doubled home Kevin Millar off Chris Fussell (1-2) in the second inning. The Sea Dogs increased their lead in the sixth, scoring four runs. Ryan Jackson doubled in Mark Kotsay, chasing Fussell.

Shorebirds 5, Alley Cats 2: A four-run fourth inning highlighted by Ryan Minor's two-run homer propelled host Delmarva to the South Atlantic League victory over Charleston.

Suns 4, Crocs 3: Robbie Hampton's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted host Hagerstown over Cape Fear in a South Atlantic League game.
