Officials probe blaze that destroyed garage


State fire marshals are investigating the cause of a blaze that destroyed a garage Saturday in Sykesville.

About 30 firefighters from Winfield, Gamber and Lisbon in Howard County controlled the fire in the 500 block of Buckhorn Road within minutes, officials said. No injuries occurred.

Raymond Cunningham was mowing grass when his wife discovered the fire in their garage at 2: 26 p.m. The garage, valued at about $30,000, was used to store a motorcycle and assorted lawn and garden tools, fire marshals said.


Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 4: 28 p.m. Sunday to an auto fire in the 6400 block of Ridge Road. Units were out 20 minutes.

Gamber: Firefighters from Reese and Reisterstown in Baltimore County assisted Gamber at 2: 44 a.m. Sunday, responding to smoke in a house in the 2400 block of Deer Park Road. Units were out 18 minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters from Gamber and Liberty Road in Baltimore County assisted Sykesville at 6: 23 p.m. Saturday, responding to a chimney fire in the 6600 block of Midsummer Night Court. Units were out 43 minutes.

Gamber: Firefighters responded at 6: 55 p.m. Friday to a field fire in the 100 block of E. Nicodemus Road. Units were out 30 minutes.
