Clinton D. Shepherd, 80, insurance manager
Clinton D. Shepherd, a retired manager and salesman for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. and an avid stamp collector and genealogist, died of coronary artery disease Thursday at his home in Westminster. He was 80.
Mr. Shepherd, a New Jersey native, worked 47 years for the insurance company as a manager, claims representative and salesman in the Baltimore area.
He was a member of genealogical and philatelic organizations and the Maryland Historical Society.
Services will be at 10 a.m. todayat Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.
Survivors include his wife, the former Pauline Bond Woodburn; two sons, Craig D. Shepherd of Westminster and Barrie D. Shepherd of Chitina, Alaska; a daughter, Deborah E. Cole of Hampstead; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Joseph C. Gorub,75, a Rosedale resident who worked for 40 years as a Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. engineer, died March 14 of a pulmonary embolism.
The Baltimore native, who retired in 1986, was a 1939 graduate of Polytechnic Institute and served in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator and gunner in Europe during World War II. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1949 from the University of Maryland.
He was a member of the Rosedale post of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eastern Yacht Club, and past commodore of the Red Eye Yacht Club.
Services were held March 18.
Mr. Gorub, whose first marriage ended in divorce, is survived by his wife of 17 years, the former Brenda C. Janowitz; a son, Ronald Gorub of Bel Air; a daughter, Carol Lindsay of Rosedale; a stepdaughter, Holly Helmcamp of Baltimore; two brothers, William Gorub of Kissimmee, Fla., and Charles Gorub of Valparaiso, Ind.; two sisters, Vera Korzie of Perry Hall and Mildred Schuerloz of Parkville; and four grandchildren.
