Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Northeastern District

Shooting: A 30-year-old man was walking his dog in the 1500 block of Carswell St. about 7: 40 p.m. yesterday when he was shot in the right thigh. The victim was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Western District

Assault: Police were seeking a 17-year-old boy who choked a 16-year-old girl with his hands and a shirt then attempted to smother her with a pillowcase Saturday in a house in the 1100 block of N. Monroe St. The girl did not require medical treatment.

Shooting: A 21-year-old man was walking in the 1400 block of W. Franklin St. about 1: 10 p.m. yesterday when he saw a gunman walking toward him. When the gunman was about to fire, the man turned around and saw a second gunman aiming at the first. Before he could escape the cross-fire, the victim was shot twice, once in the right shoulder and once in the chest. The gunmen fled. The victim was treated at the University of Maryland Medical Center and released.

Assault/arrest: Police arrested a 20-year-old man who assaulted a 27-year-old man with a piece of wood Saturday in the 1600 block of N. Gilmor St. The victim was in good condition at the University of Maryland Medical Center yesterday.

Northern District

Robbery: A gunman robbed a man of cash and property, all valued at nearly $300, in the 1100 block of Exeter Hall Ave. about noon Saturday.

Theft from vehicle: A stereo radio, 25 compact discs, all valued at more than $800, and $5 were stolen Saturday from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Tantallion Court.

Northwestern District

Robbery: Two gunmen robbed the McDonald's restaurant in the 5300 block of Park Heights Ave. about 10 p.m. Saturday.

Eastern District

Stolen car: A 4-door 1985 Subaru with tags BXD 879 was stolen Saturday in the 400 block of E. Eager St.

White Marsh Precinct

Theft: A 13-inch television, 20-inch television and a compact disc player, all valued at nearly $800, were stolen Saturday from a house in the 5700 block of Utrecht Road.

Burglary: A bike valued at more than $100 and several television game cartridges valued at more than $150 were stolen Saturday from a house in the 5600 block of Arnheim Road.

Cockeysville Precinct

Theft: Thirteen rings valued at nearly $8,000 were stolen from a display case at S & N Katz jewelers at Hunt Valley Mall on Saturday. The theft was discovered at closing time when employees were removing jewelry from display cases and placing it in a safe.

Garrison Precinct

Robbery try/arrest: A woman was walking to Blockbuster Video at Liberty Plaza Mall about 1: 45 p.m. Saturday when a gunman demanded her purse. When the woman resisted, the gunman fled. A mall security officer witnessed the incident and alerted police, who arrested a suspect nearby. The woman left and was being sought. Alfred Law, 17, of the 8700 block of Stephanie Road, Randallstown, was charged as an adult with possession of a handgun and was being held at the county Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bail. Police said unless the woman reports the alleged attempted robbery, Law will not be charged with that offense.

Woodlawn Precinct

Burglary try/arrest: Police arrested a man who attempted to break into a house in the 1200 block of Stamford Road on Saturday. While the man tried to enter through a rear door, using a screwdriver, the occupant dialed 911. When police arrived, the man had gone to the front of the house and was knocking on the front door. The occupant identified the suspect.

North Point Precinct

Robbery: A 43-year-old man was in the 3800 block of Dundalk Ave. about 8 p.m. Saturday when he was assaulted by several youths, who also robbed him of $30. The victim was treated for minor injuries at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
