Gourmet Fest

Savor gourmet cuisine, take home a cooking tip from a famous chef and pick up autographed cookbooks at the fourth annual Gourmet Fest this weekend at the Artworks Expo Center in Ephrata, Pa.

In addition to tasteful gourmet food exhibits and cooking demonstrations, you can also purchase cookware, gadgets, gourmet products and meet celebrity guests.

Julee Rosso, author of the Silver Palate Cookbook Series, will give demonstrations and sign books from 1 p.m to 1: 45 p.m. Saturday. Philip Silverstone, wine connoisseur, author and radio and television host, will discuss "Wining About the Good Life" at 12: 45 p.m. to 1: 30 p.m. Sunday.

Gourmet Fest hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The expo center is at 100 N. State St. Admission is $5. Listen to the massed ensemble of more than 150 handbell ringers -- representing 14 choirs from Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia -- Saturday at the Hagerstown Area Handbell Festival. Conducted by Phyllis S. Kirk, the group will ring music by Beethoven, Telemann and Mussorgsky.

Throughout the evening the ringers will also split into smaller groups of two to three octave and three to five octave choirs.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at South Hagerstown High School. Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be accepted. Call 301-733-0391.
