The Learning Channel gives TV viewers the chance to spend a day cuddled up with some great books.
"Dangerous Minds" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- Superteacher Louanne is suspended after a student's parents charge her with molesting their son. Her students and the faculty try to help, but don't. ABC.
"Dark Skies" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- Loengard's fight against those nasty aliens continues; in fact, it's even more desperate, since they abducted Kimberly (Megan Ward) and his son. Tonight, he enlists crusading columnist Dorothy Kilgallen in the fight and ends up duking it out (verbally) in the office of CBS honcho William S. Paley. NBC.
"Mad TV" (11 p.m.-midnight, WBFF, Channel 45) -- Pauly Shore is tonight's host. Maybe you can arrange to be out of the room when he's on. (A Claymation bit called "Furious George" sounds like it has promise.) Fox.

"Great Books" (9 a.m. today-3 a.m. tomorrow, The Learning Channel) -- If you missed any or all the individual episodes, here's your chance to make amends with this fascinating day-long look at the content and impact of some of the world's great literature. In order, the one-hour segments look at: "Alice In Wonderland," "The Scarlet Letter," "Huckleberry Finn," Plato's "Republic," "The Odyssey," "Le Morte D'Arthur (The Legend of the King)," "Native Son," "The Prince," "Gulliver's Travels," "Frankenstein," "Moby Dick," "The War of the Worlds," "The Art of War," "Catch 22," repeats of "The War of the Worlds," "The Art of War" and "Catch 22," and Freud's "Interpretation of Dreams."
"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (5 p.m.-7: 15 p.m., repeats 1: 30 a.m.-3: 45 a.m. tomorrow, AMC) -- Mr. Woolf, that's who. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, supposedly madly in love at the time, scream their way through playwright Edward Albee's look at one of filmdom's most dysfunctional couples. Burton's a college teacher who's had it up to here with his wife's tirades. Sandy Dennis and George Segal are the unfortunate couple stuck at a dinner party with the quarrelsome pair. Future events in the Taylor-Burton marriage may cause you to wonder just how much acting was going on here. Taylor and Dennis won Oscars.
"The Second Civil War" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., HBO) -- The governor of Idaho (Beau Bridges) throws up a blockade to keep out a group of refugee Pakistani children. The president (Phil Hartman) is determined to do something about it, but has to be careful: He doesn't want to disrupt the afternoon soaps. Meanwhile, the White House spinmaster (James Coburn) is trying to make everything look as rosy as possible.
"Protocol" (10 p.m.-midnight, Family Channel) -- Cute (what else did you expect in a film starring Goldie Hawn?) comedy about a cocktail waitress who winds up making a big splash in the State Department.
