SO LONG, February; hello, March. Time to get outside and get to those chores you've been putting off since fall. No more excuses. Well, maybe a few. Like the Sunset Elementary School PTA spring crafts fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the school, 8572 Fort Smallwood Road.
Shoppers can purchase handmade items from more than 70 crafts dealers. Items for sale will include Easter candy, panoramic eggs, wreaths, baskets, stained glass, ceramics, American Girl doll clothing and other gift and home decorations. Baked goods and other food will be sold.
If you can't get outside to do yard work, at least you can get out of the kitchen. Join the men's group at Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road, for a ham dinner from 5 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. tomorrow in the fellowship hall.
The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 4 to 12. Children younger than age 4 eat free.
In addition to baked ham, the menu will include green beans, parsley potatoes, rolls, refreshments and dessert.
Funds raised will be matched by the Aid Association for Lutherans Branch 10144 and will be donated to the Heifer Project, an international effort to give livestock to needy farmers.
Pasta with Boy Scouts
If ham isn't for you, try spaghetti at Boy Scout Troop 412's annual dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow in the fellowship hall at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road.
Tickets are $5. Children younger than age 6 eat free.
Along with the pasta, the Scouts will serve a garden salad, Italian bread, dessert and a beverage.
Proceeds will benefit troop activities.
The Christian Preschool of Community United Methodist Church is sponsoring a silent auction tomorrow through March 9 to raise money for the school.
Church spokeswoman Rosemary Billing-Briggs said that more than 230 items donated to this year's auction include gift certificates for dining and services, tickets to dinner theater shows, crafts, theme baskets and household items.
Bids will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow and March 8; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday and March 9, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. Monday through March 7.
The preschool will begin accepting registration Sunday for classes that start in September.
The school is certified by the state Department of Education.
