Oldies but goodies have a chance to play again Centenarian: Hilton International invites sprightly seniors to compete for plane fare and a vacation.

There are more than 52,000 centenarians in America today, almost three times the number in 1980.

Sprightly 100-year-olds now have a chance to win the trip of a (long) lifetime. To celebrate centenarians with active lifestyles, Hilton International has launched a "Search for the 100-Year-Old Traveler" contest, with a grand prize of 30 nights for two, double occupancy, at Hilton hotels worldwide. The winning centenarian will also receive round-trip airfare for two to any Continental Airlines destination, as well as $1,000 in traveler's checks.

To enter yourself or someone you know, Hilton asks you to send a photo of the entrant and a 300-word description of the entrant's active lifestyle, past travel experience and the travel that person would like to embark on and why. Entries must be received by Feb. 28.

The entries received so far include letters from an avid fly fisherman, a woman who remarried at 98, and a 100-year-old who plays banjo professionally every Sunday evening at a local restaurant.

Send entries to: Hilton International's "Search for the 100-year-old Traveler," c/o Quinn & Co., 26 W. 17th St., New York, N.Y. 10011.
