State fire marshals have not determined the cause of a fire Saturday in Finksburg that left a 52-year-old tenant homeless.
The blaze started in the first-floor living room and caused about $50,000 damage to the two-story wood-frame house in the 1400 block of Blackfoot Court.
Artemio Miranda, the tenant, told fire marshals that he left for work about 9: 15 a.m. Neighbors discovered smoke billowing from the house at 10: 07 a.m.
Thirty-five firefighters from Reese and Westminster were able to control the fire within 30 minutes, officials said.
Westminster: Firefighters from Reese, Pleasant Valley and Manchester assisted Westminster at 6: 22 p.m. Sunday, responding to a washing machine fire in the 200 block of E. Main St. Units were out 10 minutes.
Pleasant Valley: Firefighters from Westminster and Littlestown, Pa. assisted Pleasant Valley at 6: 56 a.m. Friday, responding to a chimney fire in the 1400 block of Silver Run Valley Road. Units were out one hour.
Westminster: A Johahn Drive resident told police Sunday that someone broke the rear sliding door at her home. Damage was estimated at $200.
Westminster: A Liberty Street resident told police Jan. 27 that someone stole his drum and sticks from the fire hall on E. Main Street. The loss was estimated at $650.
Westminster: An Eagles Court resident told police Sunday that someone broke a side window on his vehicle while it was parked outside his home. Damage was estimated at $300.
Westminster: A West Green Street resident reported Friday that someone stole a hydraulic pump from his vehicle while it was parked outside his home. The loss was estimated at $975.
Westminster: An Old Hanover Road resident told police Friday that someone damaged her vehicle while it was parked on Wimert Avenue. Damage was estimated at $300.
Westminster: An Old Manchester Road resident told police that a cellular telephone and a sleeping bag were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked outside her home early Saturday. The loss was estimated at $170.
