Archbishop Keough Council plans 1st breakfast of new year

THE ARCHBISHOP Keough Council, Knights of Columbus, will hold its first monthly breakfast of 1997 from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday in the Columbian Hall on Becknel Avenue in Odenton.

The menu includes orange juice, eggs any style, omelets cooked to order, toast, ham, sausage, gravy on biscuit as well as regular and oatmeal pancakes.

At this breakfast, Dennis and Phyllis Fawson will be recognized as the "KofC Family of the Month" for their work in preparing and promoting the successful Italian Dinner Night.

The Redemptorist seminarian, David Grainson from Holy Redeemer College in Washington, also will be introduced.

The rector of the college, the Rev. Phillip Dabney, will con-celebrate the 9 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Jan. 5.

Club to meet twice monthly

The Odenton Kiwanis Club, a community service organization, will meet only twice a month, January through March: Jan. 6 and 13, Feb. 3 and 17 and March 3 and 17.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. at its building at 1363 Becknel Ave.

Middle school places fourth

Arundel Middle School placed fourth out of 14 county schools that participated in the recent mathematics competition at George Fox Middle School in Pasadena.

Fifteen students should be congratulated for their efforts in both individual and team competitions:

Lydia Briers, Nathan Curtis, Meredith Dobish, Daniel Focht, Jessica Goeff, Amy Gorman, Graig Haas, Katie Kwiatkowski, Sasha Osaki, Cliff Peterson, Jessica Piercy, Matthew Rose, Martin Shatzer, Stephen Waskiewicz and April Zimmerman.

The next competition will be in March at Severn River Junior High School in Arnold.
