Bello, Montgomery at Hampton Inn

Glen Marsh LLC announced the appointments of J. William Bello as general manager and Sophia Montgomery as director of sales for its Hampton Inn operation, scheduled to open next month in White Marsh.

Bello, a 20-year veteran of the hospitality industry, was formerly general manager of the Hunt Valley Inn. Montgomery, with 10 years of experience, was corporate sales manager for Holiday Inn Select before joining Hampton Inns.

McCormick taps Zimmerman for Asia

McCormick & Co. has selected Gary Zimmerman as group vice president, Asia/Pacific. His last assignment for the Hunt Valley-based spice and specialty foods giant was as vice president for its flavors group, with responsibility for industrial business operations in the United States, Mexico, Japan and China. The Monkton resident is an MBA graduate of Loyola College and served as a director of the American Production and Inventory Control Society.

Houseknecht chosen CEO of credit union

SSA Baltimore Federal Credit Union has chosen John K. House-knecht Jr. as chief executive officer. The University of Virginia graduate was formerly a senior vice president of the Andrews Federal Credit Union. Before coming to the credit union industry, he was a senior regional director for ITT Consumer Finance Corp. He is active in the Area Credit Union Managers Association and other civic and church organizations.


Accounting firm elects Rate as principal

Walpert, Smullian & Blumenthal has elected Richard A. Rate Jr. as a principal of the Baltimore-based regional accounting and management consulting firm. A Certified Public Accountant, his practice focus is on financial, operational and management issues of manufacturers and distributors. A resident of Bel Air, he is a graduate of Gettysburg College and a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Hick & Rotner Retail named Robert A. Fredman as a broker. He will coordinate site selection, leasing negotiations and landlord relations. He will also manage leasing efforts for several Washington-area shopping centers. Before joining the Lutherville-based firm, he was with CitySites Realty. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and lives in Washington. Image Dynamics named Paul Eagle and Beth Schwartz as account executives in its public relations division.

Eagle joins the Baltimore-based ad and public relations house from the Peace Corps headquarters, where he was a public relations specialist. A graduate of California State University, he also had positions with Wernick Marketing Group and the Goodwill Industries.

Schwartz graduated from Towson State University with a master of arts degree and was publications coordinator for the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland and a communications specialist with the Maryland Credit Union League.


Opet is senior VP for Mercy operations

Mercy Medical Center named Edward C. Opet senior vice president of human resources, with responsibility for operations and strategic direction in human resources for the medical center and related businesses. Formerly manager of human resources for the hotel division of Manor Care, he is a graduate of Florida International University.
