Holly Run service
Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church will conduct a Communion Service at Holly Run Chapel from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve.
Holly Run Chapel, on Church Circle off School Lane, is open only on special occasions. The structure was built in 1828 with English bricks and was originally at the corner of Old Annapolis and Camp Meade roads. Regular services were conducted there until 1911, when it was abandoned and vandalized.
It was dismantled in 1966 and rebuilt at its present location. The restoration, undertaken by Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church, was completed in 1978. Baltimore artist Ronald Spencer repainted the intricate Greek columns, urns, gold stars and ancient religious symbols originally done in 1901 by an itinerant German artist.
For information, call the church office at 859-0990.
