2 men arrested, another sought in kidnapping and assault case

County police have arrested two Glen Burnie men and are searching for a Baltimore man in the assault and kidnapping of a clerk during a robbery Friday at a Royal Farm Store in the 7200 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd.

Raymond Rodriguez Rivera, 28, and Luis Antonio Davila, 17, both of the 100 block of Warwickshire Lane in Glen Burnie, were

charged with first-degree assault, robbery and kidnapping and were being held in the county jail yesterday. Rodriguez was being held on $100,000 bond. Davila, who was charged as an adult, was being held on $150,000 bond.

Police also issued a warrant for Richard Kenneth Howard, 29, of the 2700 block of Gatehouse Road in Baltimore on charges of first-degree assault, robbery and kidnapping.

In the holdup Friday, three men walked into the store about 2: 30 a.m. and ordered store clerk Phillip W. Pitts, 18, and five customers to the floor. The suspects kicked the customers, took their wallets, robbed the store, stole a security camera VCR and kidnapped Pitts. They left him beaten and bloody on the side of the Beltway.

The robbery is similar to one Tuesday, in which two men with descriptions similar to those in the Ferndale robbery walked into a Royal Farm store in the 4300 block of Washington Blvd. in

Wilkens about 1: 30 a.m. and robbed the store, took a VCR and kidnapped a clerk.

Baltimore County police are investigating whether two of the suspects in the Anne Arundel robbery might have been involved in the Wilkens case.

RTC Detectives traced the getaway car, a 1993 Hyundai Elantra, to a Baltimore County woman who had reported it missing. The woman told Baltimore County police that she suspected her boyfriend had taken the car, and gave them his address in Glen Burnie.

Anne Arundel officers who were waiting at the Glen Burnie address arrested the men about 6 p.m. Friday when they returned home in the suspect car.

Inside the car, police found blood and clothing used in the Ferndale robbery.
