Bank opens branch at Valu Food store

Carrollton Bank of Baltimore has opened a new branch inside the Valu Food store on Hanover Pike in Hampstead.

The branch, which opened Dec. 9, is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Bank, MasterCard offer checkless shopping

Carroll County Bank & Trust Company has teamed up with MasterCard International to offer customers the ability to shop with their checking account without writing a check.

Bank customers can use their ATM MasterCards as payment for goods. The MasterCard logo allows the card to work like a check wherever MasterCard is accepted.

Purchases are automatically deducted from the customer's deposit account.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn associates make news

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn Realtors has made several announcements concerning its associates around the county.

Elizabeth Stepp, a sales associate in Hampstead, recently traveled to Panama City, Fla., to participate in a national 5-kilometer run. She placed 212th out of more than 1,600 runners.

Richard Quickel has been appointed manager of the Mount Airy office, where he will supervise 18 associates and oversee day-to-day operations. The lifelong Mount Airy resident has eight years of management experience with other agencies.

Gail Henze, a sales associate in the Eldersburg office, generated real estate sales of more than $1 million in a month. The Taylorsville resident has been with the company for nine years.

Humbert joins Background America

Susan Humbert recently joined Background America Inc. as an account representative in the Hampstead office.

She will be responsible for new accounts with local and national businesses.

Background America, formerly known as Employment Screening Network, provides pre-employment background screening services to businesses.

Taneytown bank opens Internet home page

Taneytown Bank & Trust Co. has announced the opening of its home page on the Internet.

The site provides a full menu of products and services the bank offers to customers, along with branch locations and recent corporate news.

Included is an interactive on-screen calculator that can be used to calculate mortgage and loan payments and a comment card to request more information.
