Churches in community open doors for Christmas


MY CHRISTMAS wish to all is that the warmth and good will of the season fill your holiday and that the spirit will continue throughout the coming year.

To celebrate Christmas, churches in the community invite you to services scheduled Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Christmas story

Ferndale United Methodist Church, 117 Ferndale Road, presents a live Nativity and Christmas story at 6: 30 p.m. Tuesday, complete with songs from the children's choir, "Joy Noise," a family service and birthday party for baby Jesus. The church has scheduled candle and Communion services from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Family service

Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church, 200 School Lane, has scheduled a family service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Christmas carols at 10: 30 p.m., and a candlelight service at 11 p.m.

Reflecting on Christmas Eve

Friendship Church of the Brethren, 1017 Sundown Road, presents "Reflections of Christmas Eve" at 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Carols, Communion

St. John Lutheran Church, 300 West Maple Road, has scheduled a service of carols and Communion at 11 a.m. Tuesday for those unable to make an evening service as well as "Christmas Eve for Children" at 5 p.m., with favorite hymns, readings and messages for children and their families. There also will be services at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. They include carols, readings and the sacrament of Holy Communion.

The Christmas Eve Festival Service will be at 11 p.m.

Christmas Eve Masses

St. Philip Neri Church, 6405 Orchard Road, has Christmas Eve Masses at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and midnight. Christmas Day Masses will be at 8 a.m., 9: 30 a.m., 11 a.m and 12: 30 p.m.

Christmas Eve pageant

St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 118 Marydel Road will present a Christmas Eve pageant at 7 p.m. Tuesday and a Festival Service of Lessons and Carols with Holy Eucharist at 10: 30 p.m. Tuesday. The Christmas Day service is at 10 a.m.

Candlelight services

Peace Lutheran Church, 416 Wellham Ave, will have three candlelight and Communion services Tuesday. A guitar service for families with young children is scheduled at 5: 30 p.m. The 7: 30 p.m. service will include keyboard, guitar and string bass music. The church organ will provide music for the service at 11 p.m.

Bible studies

Glen Burnie Church of Christ, 2 Eastern Ave. off Baltimore & Annapolis Boulevard, will conduct regularly scheduled Bible studies at 7: 30 p.m. Wednesday.

'Come Celebrate Jesus'

The choir of Linthicum Baptist Church, 611 S. Camp Meade Road, will present a cantata, "Come Celebrate Jesus," at 6 p.m. Sunday. The Christmas Eve family service is scheduled at 7: 30 p.m. Tuesday.

Holiday social

The Ferndale Garden Club is having a holiday social for members only at the home of Marge Dishman, at 7 p.m. Jan. 3. The members will conduct a cookie swap and share recipes.
