Don’t miss the Carroll County home show this weekend!

Pressing business

Early this fall local artist Martha Macks opened Goya Girl Press, a printmaking atelier at the Mill Centre in Hampden where artists can rent press time and work in a variety of printing methods. Since then there have been classes in etching, screenprint and other disciplines, and as of this week the press has opened its first show of works made there. There are more than 30 prints in the show, by a group of artists including Lawrence Karl, Susanne Carmac, Joan Erbe, Allegra Marquart and Tammra Sigler. "Smoker," shown here, is one of the bizarre characters from the always fertile imagination of Joan Erbe.

The show is at Goya Girl Press at the Mill Centre, 3000 Chestnut Ave., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, through Feb. 16. For information, call (410) 366-2001.
