Man with pocket knife robs Harmans video store


A man armed with a pocket knife robbed a Harmans video store of an undisclosed amount of money Saturday, county police said.

Police said a man walked into Kimmy's House of Video in the 1300 block of Dorsey Road shortly after 9 p.m., pulled a knife and demanded money. The 17-year-old clerk, who police did not identify, handed over the money, then pulled a burglar alarm.

The bandit fled, police said.

Crofton bomb scare forces businesses to evacuate

County fire officials evacuated about 15 businesses in a Crofton shopping center Friday after a phony bomb was found inside a bank with a note demanding money, county police said.

An employee at the Chevy Chase Bank branch in the 1100 block of Route 3 North found a device with wires and a timer in a bag left inside the doors of the bank shortly before 1 p.m., police said.
