Maryland Midland Railway appoints assistant GM
Maryland Midland Railway Inc. has promoted David B. Hart to assistant general manager of operations and maintenance.
He joined Maryland Midland in July 1994 as a train and engine service crewman. He has a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University. and business experience in managing, organization and productivity systems, and purchasing/inventory control.
His responsibilities will include overseeing the performance of the locomotive and car repair operations and assisting general manager Wayne Weszka in operations and maintenance.
Stephanie Appler gets CRS title
Stephanie Appler, sales associate with O'Conor, Piper & Flynn of Hampstead, has been awarded the certified residential specialist (CRS) designation.
The CRS title is awarded through the Residential Sales Council of Realtors National Marketing Institute, which offers education, products and service to sales associates.
Appler had to take courses and demonstrate specific expertise in applied residential real estate marketing to earn the designation of CRS.
The Hampstead office also recently welcomed new sales associate Denise Diegel, who will provide home sales services. A Westminster resident, she is fluent in French and has a master's degree in administrative science from Johns Hopkins University.
Timothy Baumgardner named branch manager
Taneytown Bank & Trust has named Timothy Baumgardner as the branch manager of the bank's new Gettysburg, Pa., branch, which opened Dec. 2.
He will be responsible for the branch's operations and customer service.
Baumgardner has been with the bank since 1983 and has worked at various branches around Carroll and Howard counties.
The Taneytown native and resident is a commercial banking officer and licensed annuity sales representative.
Becky S. Lynch joins Union Bank
Union National Bank and Winchester Financial has hired Becky S. Lynch, a graduate of Virginia Tech University.
Lynch has an extensive background in financial planning, investments and insurance. She also is active in farming and 4-H programs.
Winchester Financial is a wholly owned subsidiary of Union National Bancorp Inc., which offers noninsured investment products to bank customers.
Teresa Lancaster named assistant vice president
Taneytown Bank & Trust company has promoted Teresa Lancaster to assistant vice president in its Trust Division.
She also will continue to coordinate the business development for the division.
Lancaster, who lives in Westminster, joined the bank 15 months ago, specializing in personal trusts, estate planning and business trust services. O'Conor, Piper & Flynn Realtors has announced the acquisition of Grimes & Associates Realty, an independent real estate company based in Mount Airy.
Grimes was formed in 1976, and in 1981 was sold to Charlie Condon and Beverly Hames, who have sold it to O'Conor, Piper & Flynn.
Condon and Hames will stay with the firm to support the Grimes team through the transition.
John N. Bowers Jr. is HBAM president
The Home Builders Association of Maryland (HBAM) recently installed Carroll County resident John N. Bowers Jr. as president for 1997.
Bowers, assistant vice president for Nottingham Properties' residential land development program in Towson, has 20 years experience in home building.
He has been active in HBAM for many years, serving as a past president and membership chairman of the organization's Land Development Council and committees in metropolitan counties.
