Stolen auto: A 1996 black Mercury with Maryland tag DFS 431 was reported missing yesterday from the lot of Al Packer Lincoln Mercury Jeep-Eagle in the 5800 block of Belair Road. The car was stolen Friday or Saturday. All car keys were accounted for and it was not known how the car was stolen.

False report: Police charged a 34-year-old man yesterday with filing a false report after investigating a story in which he told officers he had been abducted last week, forced into the trunk of a car, driven to nine bank automated teller machines and forced to make withdrawals. Police said they checked surveillance tapes from the ATMs that showed the man was the only person at the machine. Police said he was using his girlfriend's bank card and withdrew between $20 and $40 from each of the machines in one evening.

Northwestern District

Wilkens Precinct

Burglary: A burglar broke into two apartments in a building in the first block of S. Belle Grove Road between 9 a.m. and 11: 30 a.m. yesterday. To enter each apartment, the intruder removed the molding around the door and took off the lock. It was not clear whether anything was taken.

Parkville Precinct

Fraud: An elderly Parkville woman was fooled out of $7,000 in cash Tuesday by a man who pulled a "bank examiner" scheme on her. A man calls victims and tells them he is a law enforcement officer working on a fraud case for a bank. He warns victims that a bank examiner has noticed a discrepancy in their accounts and tells them to go to the bank and withdraw money to compare transactions. Victims are told to go to a drop-off spot the next day to return the money to a man who will show a badge. The elderly woman described the suspect as a white male, 60 to 65 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build and medium complexion, wearing a hat, white shirt and a plaid vest or sweater.

Essex Precinct

Burglary: Eighty-five cartons of cigarettes valued at $1,530 were stolen between 4: 55 a.m. and 5 a.m. yesterday from Bernie's Liquors in the 1400 block of Martin Blvd. The robber smashed the front window to steal the merchandise. On Tuesday, a suspect smashed the store's window and took 30 cartons of cigarettes valued at more than $500.

For the Record

Drug arrest: Officers from Baltimore Police Department's Northeastern District said they raided Jonathan's Bar in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway Wednesday night and arrested the owner, John George Zevros, 58, on drug distribution charges. Police said undercover officers bought suspected cocaine before Zevros was arrested. The bar was raided in July and several patrons arrested on drug charges. Police said they seized the bar's liquor license and will forward their reports to the city Liquor Board.
