State police seized 50 pounds of cocaine from a Randallstown man who was stopped on suspicion of speeding on Interstate 95 in Cecil County yesterday, authorities reported.
Forrest William Hamm of the 2900 block of Shenton Road was being held yesterday in lieu of a $950,000 bond at the Cecil County Detention Center. The seizure was made on the I-95 corridor, which has a reputation for being a north-south drug trafficking route.
According to state police, Tfc. Steven Jones stopped Hamm for going 10 mph over the 65 mph speed limit shortly after midnight. Hamm gave the trooper an expired rental agreement for the 1996 Chevrolet Corsica he was driving, police said.
A state police drug dog alerted Jones to the possible presence of drugs, police said, and Jones found cocaine in the trunk.
Hamm was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 65 years in prison and fined $75,000.
