County police arrested one of three masked men who allegedly broke into a Severn home Monday, pistol-whipped a woman and stole more than $1,100.
Craig McKelle Ireland, 23, of the 2300 block of Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, was charged with armed robbery and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.
Doris Lynn Venable, 30, told police that three men with handguns and wearing ski masks forced their way into her home on Dunfield Court about 9: 30 p.m., beat her with a gun, ransacked her house and stole $1,145.
Police arrived as the men were running from the building and caught one carrying the money. Police found a handgun in the woods nearby.
Two gunmen commandeer Severn man's car, rob him
A Severn man was forced to the floor of his car at gunpoint early Friday and taken on a five-hour ride that ended when his kidnappers forced him into the trunk, county police said.
Carlos R. Ervin, 37, was not injured in the incident.
Ervin told police he was driving his 1989 Dodge Dynasty on O'Brien Road in Fort Meade just after 1: 30 a.m., when he noticed signs of engine trouble and pulled over to check the oil.
Two men with handguns forced Ervin to the floor of his car and drove for several hours, but made no other demands, police said. With the car running out of gas five hours later, the driver parked at Maryland City Plaza on Laurel Fort Meade Road, took Ervin's black leather jacket and $23, and locked him in the trunk, police said.
A citizen who saw him being forced into the trunk called police about 6: 30 a.m. Officers arrived moments later and freed the victim.
Police did not have a detailed description of the gunmen.
Odenton: Thieves climbed the fire escape at Tom's Liquors in the 1500 block of Annapolis Road shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday and broke in through the ceiling. Store owner Chris Y. Choy told police the building has been closed for four months, and he did not know whether anything was stolen.
