2 assailants beat Odenton man in attempted robbery

An Odenton man was beaten Sunday by two men who apparently followed him from an Odenton shopping center and attempted to rob him, county police said.

Steven Allen Reitzel, 32, was kicked in the head and received cuts and scratches but refused medical treatment.

Reitzel told police he left the Super Fresh at Odenton Shopping Center in the 1100 block of Annapolis Road about 8 p.m. and was walking near the 500 block of Williamsburg Lane on his way home. Two men approached from behind, knocked him down and beat him while demanding money.

Reitzel said he was kicked several times in the head and that the thieves tore his pockets to get his wallet but did not get any money. The attackers ran when a vehicle approached, police said.

Reitzel was unable to give police a description of his attackers.
