Happy holidays: With both Christmas and New Year's falling on Wednesdays, many employers are giving their workers extra paid days off. The Bureau of National Affairs, a publisher that surveyed 375 human resources executives, found that the median number of paid year-end holidays is 3, up from 2.5 last year. Twenty-eight percent of respondents said their employees are getting 4 days or more. Not all employees are hitting the time-off jackpot, however; more than two out of five employers will require at least a few workers to be on the job.
