Police arrested a homeless man Wednesday on charges of breaking into two Glen Burnie homes and trying to break into a third, county police said.
Brian Keith Merico, 23, was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree burglary and two counts of theft.
Linda B. Johnson, 40, of the 8000 block of Foxwell Road told police she was in her home shortly after 11 a.m. when she heard a knock on her front door.
She did not answer but saw a man walk to her back door and push it, police said. When the door did not give way, the man walked across the street to a neighbor's home, Johnson told police.
She called police, who found a man walking out of the rear door of another home. The man told police he was looking for a friend, but police found that the screen in the kitchen window had been ripped off.
Officer Ronald Passman handcuffed the man, checked the house and found that the door the man used to leave was unlocked.
Passman searched the man and found two silver dollars, a bag of quarters, seven $1 bills with handwriting on them, a watch and two checks belonging to a woman who lives on Scotts Manor Drive in Glen Burnie.
The owners of the homes on Foxwell Road and Scotts Manor Drive identified the recovered items, police said.
