Songwriter wins WAMMIE music award


Sue Trainor, a songwriter and humorist who lives in Columbia's Owen Brown village, has received a WAMMIE Award from the Washington Area Music Association for Best Female Vocalist in the Children's Music category.

She and her music partner, Sue Ribaudo, were nominated as "Best Children's Duo/Group" and with her new trio, HOT SOUP!, was nominated as overall Best New Artist.

Trainor produces the weekly Folkal Point acoustic music concert series at the Coho Grill at Hobbit's Glen Golf Club in west Columbia.

Long Reach: 5900 block of Millrace Court: A man returned home Tuesday morning to find a broken window and someone inside his condominium removing items. A videocassette recorder, stereo speakers and stand, jewelry and clothes were taken.

Owen Brown: 8800 block of Stanford Blvd.: A white 1991 Mazda RX7 without tags was stolen between Nov. 22 and Tuesday.
