COLUMBIA'S SENIORS are invited to join an escorted "Holiday Lights" tour from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 15.
After touring local holiday decorations, the group will gather at Stonehouse Community Center in Long Reach Village for a party.
Best of all, the evening of entertainment is free.
The tour is co-sponsored by the villages of Long Reach, Owen Brown and Hickory Ridge.
Seniors will be picked up at Longwood House and Shalom Square in Long Reach Village, Owen Brown Place in Owen Brown Village and Hickory Ridge Place in Hickory Ridge Village.
Or, guests may go directly to Stonehouse.
Reservations are required to ensure ample bus space and refreshments.
Breakfast with Santa
"Breakfast With Santa" has been planned for children ages 3-8 on Dec. 14 at the Other Barn, 5851 Robert Oliver Place, Oakland Mills Village Center.
Donation of a new or "gently used" book for the village's reading center -- plus $2 for each child and adult -- is requested.
Children may enjoy shopping for their families and friends in Santa's Secret Workshop -- for children only, but staffed by Santa's elves, who can help with reading and wrapping.
Registration is required.
Local artists, holiday arts
Oakland Mills resident Beth Kosterich is one of four artists who have coordinated a holiday exhibit of their artworks, including jewelry, handmade paper, sculpture and calligraphy, at 12809 Folly Quarter Road.
For directions and information, call 531-6011.
Cake decorating arts
Special holidays seem to inspire household chefs to demonstrate new culinary talents.
They have a learning opportunity at 2 p.m. Sunday with Eileen Rich, a professional artist and cake decorator, who will demonstrate icing techniques and fun decorating of edibles at the Columbia Art Center, Long Reach Village Shopping Center.
Light refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is required.
Adults who have shopped till they dropped preparing for the holidays are invited to relax and enjoy an evening of skating during Adult Night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at the Columbia Ice Rink on Thunderhill Road at the Oakland Mills Village Center.
ID is required because beer and wine are served.
