"The Homepage," the Internet Web site of the National Association of Home Builders, will mark its first full year of operation in January.
The World Wide Web site at http: //www.nahb.com is drawing interest from consumers and builders, said Randy Smith, the developer from Walnut Creek, Calif., who heads the association.
A daily housing news update, a step-by-step guide to buying a home and detailed statistics about the housing industry are among the features included on the association's Web site.
"The Homepage" ranks housing affordability in 200 markets, has guidelines on choosing a remodeler, and has a "Lender's Link" with information on mortgage rates and online loan applications.
In addition, the site has information on joining the trade group, a list of the association's 800 state and local associations, a listing of educational programs and reports on councils representing specialty fields, such as remodeling, multifamily housing, building systems, sales and marketing.
Also represented on the site are the association's bookstore, women's council, research center, and the Home Building Institute, the group's educational arm.
