2nd-round pick Henderson missing from camp

SHEPERDSTOWN, W.VA. — SHEPERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Washington Bullets second-round pick Ronnie Henderson apparently has left the team.

"He's not here," Bullets coach Jim Lynam said after last night's practice. "He must have vanished. I don't know where he is."

Lynam said he was awakened by Henderson following yesterday morning's practice session. Henderson, the 55th pick overall out of Louisiana State, told Lynam he wanted to talk later at the Shepherd College gym.

But Henderson never showed up for the team's evening practice. He did show up at the gym to grab a few personal belongings out of his locker.

Lynam speculated that Henderson may have been feeling some frustration as he played through a groin injury that he apparently suffered early in camp.

Apparently, the team wasn't pleased with the work -- or lack of work -- that Henderson put in over the summer in his rehabilitation from knee surgery. After yesterday's morning session, the 6-foot-4 guard, who led the Southeastern Conference in scoring his final two years, was criticized by trainer Kevin Johnson after failing to put in the required time on an exercise machine.
