Darryl A. Jones Sr., a former Maryland police union official, has resigned from a state consulting job after damaging a state-owned car and being charged with drunken driving.
He resigned Friday, hours after the early-morning accident, from his job advising officials in the Department of Transportation, a department spokeswoman said. No one was injured in the one-vehicle District of Columbia accident, the spokeswoman said.
Jones was a political supporter of Gov. Parris N. Glendening's and was given the no-bid, $41,000-a-year consulting job in February.
