Phillies: Left-hander Sid Fernandez, who went on the disabled list for the second time this season June 24 because of a sore left elbow, will be examined on Tuesday in Los Angeles by Dr. Lewis Yocum. On Wednesday, he will likely undergo an arthroscopic procedure.
Pirates: Right-hander Chris Corn, who was pitching for the Yankees' Single-A Tampa farm club, was sent to Pittsburgh to complete the trade for third baseman Charlie Hayes. . . .
