2-1 loss dims Keys' playoff prospects

FREDERICK -- The Frederick Keys go into Wilmington, Del., tonight clinging to the barest thread of hope for making the Single-A Carolina League playoffs.

The Keys must sweep their five-game, season-ending series against the Blue Rocks to have any chance to win the second-half title. Frederick was put in this position by a heart-breaking 2-1 loss to Winston-Salem before 6,673 last night at Grove Stadium.

Winston-Salem (34-30 in the South) grabbed a 2-0 lead on Nick Morrow's fourth-inning homer off Julio Moreno (9-9) and held on.

Senators 2, Baysox 1: DaRond Stovall's homer with two outs in the 12th off Matt Grott (2-1) lifted host Harrisburg over Bowie in the Double-A Eastern League.

The Senators' magic number over the Indians for the second and final playoff spot in the Southern Division playoffs is two.
