Thieves hit car lots on Ritchie Highway

License plates and radios were stolen overnight Sunday from automobile businesses in the 7100 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie in what county police said appear to be related incidents.

Scott Kellenbenz, an employee at Tate Dodge, called police to the business after he discovered that several vehicles on the lot had been broken into, and that the passenger side window of a 1997 Dodge Caravan had been smashed and a large section of the dashboard destroyed by someone who stole a radio.

In addition, radios and other stereo equipment were stolen from a 1996 Dodge Caravan and a a 1996 Jeep that were in the body shop. The damage to all of the vehicles was valued at $7,000.

About a half-hour after police were called to Tate Dodge, Joseph McMullen of Budget Rent-a-Car in the same block reported that a Georgia license tag had been taken from a van parked on the lot.
