Friedel named manager at International Paper


International Paper announced the appointment of John A. Friedel as products manager, high-pressure laminates at its Odenton-based decorative products division. He joined the company in 1988, when it was known as Nevamar, as an assistant customer service manager. In his new position, he will have responsibility for marketing of high-pressure laminates and new product development. A Baltimore resident, he is a graduate of Loyola College and has a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University.

The Epilepsy Association of Maryland named James Baldwin as director of communications. He will have responsibility for promoting the association through public and professional relations and education as well as the promotion of special events. A graduate of the University of Delaware, he was formerly with the Baltimore ad agency Hartt & Co. and had served on the press staff of the governor of Delaware.



Slater named as head of media buying group

Eisner & Associates, a public relations and advertising firm with headquarters in Baltimore, has named ad industry veteran Joanie Slater as head of its broadcast media buying group. A graduate of Rider College, she also attended universities in France and Italy. She was formerly with W. B. Doner & Co. and the Dancer-Fitzgerald-Sample agency.

Iovino joins the staff at Heneson Communications

Bonnie Heneson Communications added Lee Anthony Iovino to the staff as a public relations assistant. He will aid in media relations, special event planning, publication coordination and account services. A resident of Towson, he is a graduate of Towson State University and recently completed a public relations internship with St. Joseph Medical Center.

Signet picks Stierhoff for public affairs post

Signet Bank announced the selection of K. Dorothea Stierhoff as assistant vice president for public affairs. Her new post gives her responsibility for public relations and community outreach projects. A graduate of American University, she also earned a management certificate from the University of Baltimore. Prior to joining the bank, she headed her own company, KDS Communications, and was also with the Bank of Baltimore.


Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander announced that Peter B. Rosenwald II has joined the Baltimore law firm's financial services and government relations department. His recent practice has been in the representation of banks and institutions in commercial lending transactions. A resident of Baltimore County, he is law graduate of Washington & Lee University and is currently enrolled in the Greater Baltimore Committee's leadership program.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Maryland appointed John E. Moseman vice president, managed care service and claims. He will be responsible for improving patient and client services at the Owings Mills-based health care insurer's managed care subsidiaries. Formerly senior director of member services for MidAtlantic Medical Services, the Burtonsville resident is a graduate of Salisbury State University.


Cela named vice president at Helix Health division

Union Memorial Hospital announced the selection of Maryann Cela as vice president of clinical operations for the North Baltimore-based unit of Helix Heath. She will oversee clinical operations, patient care and nursing education. Prior to coming to UMH, she had been vice president for patient care services at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She received her master's degree in nursing from Seton Hall University and currently resides in Lutherville.
