Martin S. Morgan Sr., 79, Social Security worker
Martin S. Morgan Sr., who worked for the Social Security Administration for 25 years, died Thursday of cancer at his home in Towson. He was 79.
Mr. Morgan began his SSA career in Chicago in 1950 and five years later moved to the Baltimore area after a promotion to the agency's Disability Determination Office. He eventually moved to SSA headquarters in Woodlawn and was a section chief in the disability office when he retired in 1975.
He practiced law for two years in Litchfield, Ill., before he went to work for the Veterans Administration around the start of World War II.
Services are scheduled at 11: 30 a.m. today at the Church of the Nativity, 1800 Vista Lane in Timonium.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, the former Mary Rita Beasley, he is survived by five sons, Martin S. Morgan Jr. of Ellicott City, Stephen H. Morgan of Cockeysville, Thomas P. Morgan of Timonium, Robert C. Morgan of Reisterstown and Gregory J. Morgan of Catonsville; a daughter, Lucy A. Mohler of Baltimore; two sisters, Marjorie Miller of Hinsdale, Ill., and Dorothy Higgins of Litchfield; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
