A classic 'Seinfeld' rerun and a very bad movie

Is the worst movie ever made on Showtime tonight? It's certainly a contender.

"Seinfeld" (7: 30 p.m.-8 p.m., WBFF, Channel 45) -- In maybe the best "Seinfeld" ever, Jerry has to convince a college newspaper reporter that he and George are not gay. Not, as Jerry would hasten to add, that there's anything wrong with that. Fox.

"Hangin' With Mr. Cooper" (9: 30 p.m.-10 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- Seems Mark (Mark Curry) has this mug with a picture of him and Julius Erving. Seems he's real fond of it. Seems it gets broken. Seems this situation is good for some hearty chuckles. Seems Dr. J. himself makes a guest appearance. ABC.

"Step By Step" (9 p.m.-9: 30 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- One kid wants to get a tattoo. Another's accused of cheating. A third becomes a Girl Scout cookie maven. What a group. ABC.

"The X-Files" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WBFF, Channel 45) -- A guy who's been hawking videos of an alien autopsy is murdered. Fox.

"Law and Order" (10 p.m.-11 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- Persistence pays off (as it usually does on this show) as an investigation into a woman's shooting death leads to a teen-ager whose drug-addicted mother has entrusted him to the care of a dealer. Tough to figure out who's more at fault in this one. NBC.

"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (11: 35 p.m.-12: 35 a.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- Inspirational Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug, she of the world's most famous leg injury, yuks it up with Jay. Now, if you're in the mood for something a little less wholesome NBC.

"The Late Show with David Letterman" (11: 35 p.m.-12: 35 a.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- howzabout the Sex Pistols pounding it out on the stage of the Ed Sullivan Theater? Oh dear, what would Ed say? CBS.

"Showgirls" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., Showtime) -- Famous as the movie that gave nudity (not to mention Las Vegas and lap dancing) a bad name. Bad acting, bad writing, bad story, bad karma. Don't miss this one.

"I Dream of Jeannie" (9: 30 p.m.-10 p.m., Nickelodeon) -- Capt. Healey discovers Jeannie's identity and tries to steal her for himself. The cad.

"Beavis and Butt-head" (10 p.m.-3 a.m. tomorrow, MTV) -- Is the world ready for 10 straight shows featuring these guys? Heh heh, why not?
