GE Information Services names president/CEO
Harvey F. Seegers, 42, was named president and chief executive officer of Rockville-based GE Information Services yesterday.
He replaces Hellene S. Runtagh, 48, who, the company said, left to pursue another business opportunity.
GEIS, one of 12 divisions of General Electric, provides business-to-business electronic services -- such as data interchange and electronic funds transfer -- to more than 40,000 firms, which it calls "the world's largest electronic trading community."
GEIS uses one of the world's largest private electronic networks and, recently, the Internet. It has 2,600 employees, including 1,100 at three Rockville facilities.
Seegers was staff executive in GE's corporate executive office in Fairfield, Conn. Earlier, he was an executive at GE Transportation Systems, GE's corporate business development organization and a management consultant at Bain & Co.
He was tapped for the job by Gary M. Reiner, GE senior vice president and chief information officer.
Seegers is a graduate of the University of Virginia, Catholic University Law School and Harvard Business School.
