Oakland Mills leads state high schools in Giant receipts

Oakland Mills High School collected the most Giant grocery store receipts of any high school in Maryland this year.

The $1,238,359.69 in receipts collected for Giant's Apples for the Students Plus Program made Oakland Mills the only school in Howard to break the $1 million mark.

Oakland Mills was able to purchase four Macintosh LC 580 8/500 computers with color monitors and CD-ROMs, one Macintosh LC 580 4/250 and six Microsoft PS/2 Serial Mice.

Long Reach: 8700 block of Hayshed Lane: A rear sliding glass door was pried open between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday. The intruder or intruders ransacked the residence, stealing computer equipment, a videocassette recorder, an undisclosed amount of cash, a television, clothing, games and an answering machine.

Oakland Mills: 5500 block of Twin Knolls Road: Burglars entered an office building suite Monday morning, pried open a locked door and used a trash can to haul off a computer and office equipment, police said.
