Virginia Renaissance Faire
Excitement, revelry and celebration in a 16th-century English country fair and marketplace are the hallmarks of the Virginia Renaissance Faire in Fredericksburg. Each weekend day, Saturday through June 16, time-travelers visiting the Faire will enjoy continuous entertainment on the Faire's stages and arenas, including the remarkable "Birds of Prey Falcons and Hawk Show," three "Royal Jousting Tournaments," the crazy antics of the Sturdy Beggars in "The Mud Show" and military drills by the Queen's Royal Guard. Lively merriment, bartering, feasting and the hearty way of life during the days of Queen Elizabeth I will be re-created in every detail by costumed performers, actors, minstrels, dancers and musicians joining artisans, crafts people and food and beverage purveyors.

Inhale the sweet perfume of delicate pink and white apple blossoms and celebrate a promising apple crop this weekend at the 69th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, Va., or at the 41st annual Adams County Apple Blossom Festival at the South Mountain Fairgrounds near Gettysburg, Pa.
From the pageantry of the queen's coronation to the largest display of firefighting equipment in the country to dances, parades, musical entertainment and a circus, the Shenandoah festival offers merriment for the entire family. Highlights of the Adams County event include entertainment, orchard bus tours, arts and crafts demonstrations, livestock and fruit exhibits, tractor pulls and pony rides.
The Shenandoah festival takes place today through Sunday, with activities starting at 8 a.m. each day and lasting through the evening. Admission varies with events.
