Honors: The Braves' Ryan Klesko, who had three homers and six RBIs and batted .586, was named Player of the Week.

Cardinals: Ray Lankford, who had been 1-for-20 after striking out his first two at-bats, singled in each of his next two trips. Dodgers: The game was the team's 3,000th regular-season home game in Los Angeles. . . . Mike Piazza, the only Dodger to hit at least 20 home runs in each of his first three major-league seasons, has 15 hits in his first seven games -- all singles. . . . Hideo Nomo's shutout was the first in a Dodger home opener since 1981, when rookie Fernando Valenzuela started in place of the injured Jerry Reuss and beat Houston, 2-0.

Reds: Pitcher Jose Rijo had surgery to remove a calcium buildup, a bone formation and scar tissue from his rebuilt right elbow. He will be examined again in two to three weeks. . . . Third baseman Chris Sabo was the only starter on either team to wear short sleeves.

Rockies: Colorado came into the game as the only team in the majors without an error, but Walt Weiss committed a throwing error in the first inning. . . . The Rockies had their 52nd consecutive sellout at Coors Field with 47,912 paid fans; the total attendance of 50,185 was a Coors Field record.
