THE WESTMINSTER High Parent Boosters, Class of 1998 will present Prom Fair '96 for its fifth year. The fair will be held in the lobby of Westminster High School, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 23, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. March 24.
At this annual event, girls can sell their old prom dresses and 25 percent of the profit goes to the Parent Boosters. Dresses may be dropped off in the lobby of the school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday or March 16 and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 19.
Girls from all over the county may take advantage of this sale of "worn-once" quality prom dresses. Also at the event, vendors will include hair stylists, makeup artists, nail artists and experts in sewing and dress alteration. Door prizes will be awarded.

4-H Performing Arts Club
The Carroll County 4-H Performing Arts Club, which meets regularly in Shipley, performed for the Maryland State Association of Agricultural Fairs and Shows at the Hilton Hotel in Gaithersburg.
This show included choral numbers, soloists, ballet and tap, and a "Shel Silverstein" reading. The lounge was packed for the performance.
'The Cherry Orchard'
Western Maryland College will present "The Cherry Orchard" in Alumni Hall Thursday through Saturday, with performances beginning at 8 p.m.
"The Cherry Orchard" is a play set in Russia in the early 1900s. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors over age 65 and children younger than age 12.

Poet laureate to read
Maryland Poet Laureate Roland Flint will read from his works in the 10th annual Christopher Bothe Memorial Lecture at 8 p.m. Tuesday in McDaniel Lounge at Western Maryland College. The free lecture is open to the public.
The Christopher Bothe Memorial Lecture was established in 1987 by the family and friends of Christopher Bothe, a member of WMC's class of 1972. He was a poet and award-winning journalist and printer who died in 1974.
The lecture is meant to support a day of residence at WMC by a visiting writer who meets with student writers in and out of class and gives a public reading or lecture.
Dr. Flint, a professor at Georgetown University, was named Maryland Poet Laureate by Gov. Parris N. Glendening on Sept. 27, 1995. Dr. Flint is a distinguished author who has presented his poetry on ABC's "Nightline," at the Folger Shakespeare Theater, the Manhattan Theater Club, the Naval Academy and numerous other colleges, universities and organizations in the United States and abroad.
