Joppatowne slips past Edgewood, 35-34 C.M. Wright takes Bel Air to improve to 21-0


...TC Senior center Brandi Barnes scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as host Joppatowne (13-10) earned its third consecutive trip to the Class 1A North Region finals by slipping past Edgewood, 35-34, last night in a region semifinal.

Erica Turner scored 13 points to lead Edgewood.

Joppatowne will meet the winner of last night's Rising Sun/Bo Manor semifinal tomorrow in the region final.

* C.M. Wright 63, Bel Air 40: Erin Updegrove scored 24 to lead host C.M. Wright (21-0) past Bel Air (13-10) in a Class 3A North region semifinal.

Jackie Hinson led Bel Air with 11. C.M. Wright travels to Fallston tomorrow at 7 p.m. for the region final.

* Perry Hall 61, Dulaney 37: Alisha McClinton scored 27 and grabbed 14 rebounds to power host Perry Hall (11-6) past Dulaney in a Class 4A North semifinal. Perry Hall plays host to Western tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the region final.

* North Caroline 64, Poly 60: Kiana Lewis broke a 60-60 tie with a minute left by hitting a jumper and then added two free throws for insurance to lift North Caroline (22-1) over visiting Poly (19-4) in a Class 2A East semifinal game.

Shantwan Dowell led North Caroline with 31 points, while Kelly Logan led Poly with 25.

* Brunswick 61, Hereford 32: Julie Foltz scored 20 for host Brunswick (22-2) in a Class 1A South region semifinal. Nancy Zentz led Hereford with 14 points.
