Sister Wendy talks about art

At least at this year's Grammys, neither A Taste of Honey nor Milli Vanilli is up for anything.

* "Ellen" (8 p.m.-8:30 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- Ellen has no problem accepting a marriage proposal from Matt (Dan Gauthier) but thinks the ring is a bit on the small side. ABC.

* "Grammy Awards" (8 p.m.-whenever, WJZ, Channel 13) -- Ellen DeGeneres is the host for this year's annual attempt by the music industry to show it knows what talent is. Past years have often proved more embarrassing than not, but this year the Grammy folks swear they'll get it right. Let's see. CBS.

* "Sister Wendy's Grand Tour" (11:15 p.m.-11:30 p.m., WETA, Channel 26) -- These fascinating, 15-minute vignettes are a delight, as Sister Wendy introduces us to the world's greatest art. For anyone who went to a Catholic grade school, she's the nun you always wanted as a teacher: smart, down-to-earth, able to relate to her audience. She's never stuffy, and the art really comes alive through her insights.

* "Romeo and Juliet" (2 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Showtime) -- Director Franco Zeffirelli had the novel idea of actually casting teen-agers in Shakespeare's famous play of ill-fated love. The result is a triumph all around. Olivia Hussey is a beguiling Juliet, Leonard Whiting a --ing, foolhardy Romeo.

* "Remington Steele" (5 p.m.-6 p.m., repeats 8 a.m.-9 a.m. tomorrow, A&E;) -- "Steele in the Family" is one of the funniest episodes of my favorite detective series: Remington and Laura have to keep a corpse from being discovered for 24 hours, while at the same time keeping their receptionist from finding out her nephew's Latin tutor is really a high-priced call girl.

* "The Andersonville Diaries" (8 p.m.-8:30 p.m., repeats 11:30 p.m.-12 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.-6 a.m. tomorrow, TNT) -- Charlton Heston narrates this look at the Civil War soldiers forced to endure years of malnutrition and exposure to the elements at this most infamous of Confederate prisoner-of-war camps.
