25 years ago (week of Feb. 21-27, 1971):
Howard County Executive Omar J. Jones unveiled a plan for the development of Howard County during the 1970s. It is hoped that the plan would "control the orderly growth of the county."
At a meeting of the Columbia Commission, Columbia residents expressed concern at the divisiveness that was developing between Columbia and the rest of the county.
50 years ago (week of Feb. 17-23, 1946):
Isaac H. Taylor, chairman of the Howard County clothing drive, expressed his thanks to county citizens for their contributions. More than three large truckloads of clothing were collected for the overseas war relief effort.
