Delicious romance in country inns
If you're the sort who loves country inns, check out Gail Greco's new "Sweet Romance" series, with favorite desserts from 26 country inns across the United States. Here's a luscious example: In one show, cookbook author and TV chef Marcia Adams joins Ms. Greco at the Checkerberry Inn, Goshen, Ind., where chef Gregory Lutes offers chocolate ravioli with raspberry sauce (above). The show airs on Maryland Public Television at 6 p.m. Sunday and repeats at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Taste of Thailand
The Bangkok Oriental Restaurant, 8043 F Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, is the site of a series of talks about, and tastings of, the cuisine of Thailand. The three-hour evening course, from Anne Arundel Community College Continuing Education, will be offered March 5 and April 23. Price is $25 per person. What a concept: Appetizers and desserts that are virtually fat-free. Usual problem with concept: Dishes are taste-free. Refreshingly, Barry Bluestein and Kevin Morrissey, authors of "The 99 Percent Fat-Free Book of Appetizers and Desserts (Doubleday, $27.50) have managed to create recipes with a little zing, including new potatoes with caviar cream, firecracker fried rice, and toffee crunch frozen yogurt.
